Hilde was one of the Valkyrie's of Norse mythology. The Valkyrie were thought to be responsible for carrying the souls of the bravest warriors killed in battle to the God Odin's side to fight with him in eternity. Hilde put a slightly different twist on this task by bringing the most valiant soldiers back to life and restoring their weapons so that the battle on earth could proceed indefinitely. Her adoption of warrior garb makes her virtually indistinguishable from her male counterparts.
